Nordic Body Walk Classes in Playa Vista, CA

Malin Svensson is the Nordic Walking Guru in North America, and she teaches Nordic Body Walk classes in Playa Vista only once a year. This is a rare opportunity to learn from her in person. Make sure to sign up as soon as possible – she only accepts max 20 participants per class.

 

Learn the Nordic Body Walk Method

Start with Nordic Body Walk Levels 1 & 2, our 30-minute introduction to the method. Once you've mastered the fundamentals, progress to Nordic Body Walk Level 3, a full-body fitness workout that builds on your technique.

 

Nordic Body Walk Levels 1 & 2

30-Minute Introduction

If you're new to the Nordic Body Walk Method, this is where you'll begin. During this 30-minute introductory class, you'll learn Level 1: Regular Walking and Level 2: Basic Nordic Walking. First, you'll develop proper walking mechanics, then you'll be introduced to Nordic Walking poles and the foundational technique.

This class provides the essential skills needed before progressing to Level 3. It is always taught in the same grassy area and remains in one location, allowing you to focus on learning proper technique in a comfortable environment.

60-Minute Workout

Prerequisite: Nordic Body Walk Levels 1 & 2

Once you've completed Nordic Body Walk Levels 1 & 2, you're ready to advance to Level 3. This one-hour workout includes a warm-up, technique instruction, a 30–45 minute walk, and cool-down stretching on a variety of surfaces, including grass and asphalt.

Each Level 3 class features a different workout theme while continuing to refine your technique. You'll learn to extend your arm and leg movements for a more powerful, efficient stride, helping you burn up to 46% more calories than regular walking. As your skills progress, you'll also practice uphill and downhill techniques.

The group will leave the meeting location and walk together. If you need to shorten your walk, you're welcome to return early—just let Malin know before heading back.

Class #2: Nordic Body Walk Level 3

Prerequisite: Nordic Body Walk Levels 1 & 2

If you have already completed levels 1 & 2, you are ready for level 3. It is an hour-long workout including warm-up and cool-down/stretching. The actual walking time is usually around 30-45 minutes on either grass or asphalt. Every time you come to this workout it will be different – a unique theme each time. The goal is to gradually build your technique to the finished Nordic Body Walk Fitness Technique, which burns about 46% more calories than regular walking. You’ll also get to try up -and downhill techniques. We’ll leave the meeting location, and we’ll walk as a group, but if somebody wants to cut it shorter, you’re more than welcome to do that if you let Malin know.

Nordic Body Walk Class Details

Where: The Concert Park, 13001 Pacific Promenade, Playa Vista, CA 90094

Meeting Spot: We meet on the west side of the park, close to the public bathrooms.

Parking: Residential parking. Arrive early to find parking.

Nordic Walking Poles: Complementary poles will be provided if needed. Make sure you let us know at the checkout. You are responsible to bring wipes to wipe them off before and after usage. You can purchase recommended Nordic Walking poles in our Nordic Body Store.

No Refund: Due to the limited space of only 20 people, there will be no refund. Your registration is transferable to another person on the same day.

What to wear: Comfortable walking shoes/sneakers and comfortable clothes appropriate for walking and the weather. The class will happen come rain or shine. Dress according to the weather.

What to bring: Your hands need to be free! You will hold on to one pole in each hand. A waist belt with a water bottle is recommended. Keep the car key, ID, and money in a zipped pocket. Hat and sunscreen if needed.
